The municipality of Jacaleapa belongs to the department of El Paraíso. It is located 12 km from the city of Danlí and 82 km from the capital city. Jacaleapa has an urban population of approximately 2,500 people and a rural population of 500. Ninety-five percent of the population knows how to read and write. The majority of the people dedicate themselves to agriculture and cattle-raising. Jacaleapa has the basic services of electricity, potable water and telephone. The library in Jacaleapa was inaugurated on December 14th, 2005.
