San Luis, Comayagua

San Luis is located in the northeast corner of Comayagua, 135 km northwest of Tegucigalpa. The town has an urban population of 1,800 with an additional 5,400 in surrounding villages. San Luis was founded in 1971 under political conflict in which the first municipal government was jailed during their petition for an independent town. The Riecken Foundation initiated the library project on December 21, 2003 and the library was inaugurated on August 7, 2004.
