The community of Florida belongs to the municipality of Opatoro of the department of La Paz. It is located in the southern area of the municipality, 191 km west of the city of Tegucigalpa. Florida has an approximate population of 5,000 people, which includes the neighboring villages. Florida stands at 1,237 meters above sea level. The major economic activity in the community is small-scale agriculture, coffee being the principle crop. The library, Biblioteca Pública Fray Abel del Pilar Pérez, was inaugurated on July 13th, 2006.
