Yuscarán, El Paraíso

Yuscarán, the capital of El Paraíso, is located 2,762 ft above sea level in a mountainous region, 65 km east of Tegucigalpa. Its population of 9,000 includes residents of both urban and rural areas. The picturesque colonial town has a beautiful central park, a cool climate, cobblestone streets, a cane liquor factory, and surrounding mountains which were recently declared a biological reserve. The Biblioteca Publica Allan Anderson [sic] is located on the second floor of a renovated colonial building and was inaugurated on February 14, 2002.
