Río Blanco is located in the northeastern part of San Marcos Department, 252 kilometers from the capital city and 33 kilometers from San Marcos municipality. Río Blanco is at an altitude of 2,322 meters above sea level with a population of approximately 4,800 in a territorial extension of 41 square kilometers. The main languages spoken are Spanish and Mam. The construction of the library started on September 25, 2006.
