Oscar Ayala, Nueva Visión Library “I graduated from the sixth grade but, because of scarce resources, I was not able to continue my studies. So I learned a trade, carpentry, and was able to secure a job at a company and help my family. Carpentry is how I came to work at the first Riecken library in Honduras. I was able to teach what I know to members of the youth club. They began to construct little projects out of wood … and they even allowed us to work on the beams of the library.” Eva Rodezno, Luz del Saber Library “I am 50 years old and I am an agricultural economist. At the moment, I preside over the board of directors at our library. After having raised most of my children, I believe it is time to give back. And what better way than through local development. I firmly believe that the development of our community and, in turn, that of our country is in the hands of each and every one of us. We are the ones responsible for providing future generations with a better place to live.” « Back | More Success Stories ›
