The Riecken Foundation finds fertile ground in communities that have not only needs but also
aspirations. These are places where libraries can flourish as practical tools which, among other things, encourage literacy,
boost information access, enable communities to participate in their own development and empower youths to become agents for
sustainable change. The Riecken model, born out of results-oriented entrepreneurship rather than charity, leverages the
immeasurable power of community participation as a catalyst for growth. Each community's active involvement is crucial to
its library's success. In exchange, the residents of the community see the potential for their lives to transform exponentially.
The Foundation's strength is its ability to identify possibility - and turn it into reality.
